ABOUT Milta

Milta Vega Cardona, MSA, MPH, PHD(abd), is a National Anti-Racism / Anti Oppression Consultant providing support in organizing and curating conversations on Race and Racism in the United States, Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.   Her 40 plus years of expertise in the Human Services Field and her 15 years of curating conversations on Race and Racism provide the backdrop to her ability in creating an environment for both BIPOC and White People to take the deep dive into this uncomfortable and often “messy” conversation on Race.

The objectives for this 3 part conversation:

(i) Practicing a set of agreements that provides the needed Guard Rails for a fruitful discussion on Race and Racism,

(ii) Learning the process of socialization through exposure to Implicit Bias that supports the Individual, Cultural and Social Manifestations and Implications of Race and Racism in our Society and Institution,

(iii) Learning a working definition of Race and Racism that supports the movement towards Equity.

Milta is a 15-year contributor Consultant and Core Trainer to the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, and she credits them with her foundational understanding of the Roots of Racism in the USA. Milta’s 40 years of service and advocacy, administration, and her role as a  Program Director and Principal Investigator in the Human Service field has taken her through the Substance Abuse Epidemic in the USA, the HIV Pandemic in the USA, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico, and Presently bearing witness to the effects and affects of Covid-19.

Through each of these, the outcome of severe Prejudice and Power differentials has been witnessed through the loss of life and the generational devastation caused by the inequity and man-made disparities imposed on Poor People, Black, and POC communities.
